Why We Built Physiological Liveness Detection
The identity verification industry faces an arms race it is losing. Every improvement in facial recognition is matched by improvements in synthetic media generation. Deepfakes that were obvious two years ago are now indistinguishable from real footage. Traditional anti-spoofing — challenge-response prompts, texture analysis, artifact detection — is pattern matching against an ever-expanding attack surface.
We asked a different question: instead of trying to detect what a deepfake looks like, what if we detect what it fundamentally lacks? The answer is blood flow. Remote photoplethysmography proves that a camera can read the hemodynamic signals pulsing beneath human skin. No generative AI model produces these signals because they arise from actual cardiovascular biology, not from pixels.
Circadify applies rPPG as a liveness layer for identity verification, banking authentication, and KYC workflows. Rather than racing to identify new deepfake artifacts, we verify the presence of an unforgeable biological signal. This is not pattern matching — it is proof of life.
